Essie Lilacism is one of the polishes I picked up at Walmart yesterday, and of course I had to try it out immediately. Lilacism is a pale creamy lilac from the Art of Spring 2010 collection, which also included Neo-Whimsical, Pop Art Pink, Red Nouveau, Tart Deco, and Van D'Go. While I love the color, which is opaque in three easy coats, I applied it late yesterday afternoon and already had one chip by lunchtime today, and two more by dinner! Ridiculous! Maybe I'll try it with a different top coat this time...I used Rush, and I've never used that with Essie before. I guess maybe they don't get along with each other, but it's still annoying. On a more positive note, these are the first nail pictures I've taken with my new camera!
Oh, and one more thing before we get to the pictures. I noticed that the Essie line at Walmart has slightly different bottles than the "regular" Essie bottles. In addition to the embossed "Essie" on the side of the bottle, it's printed on another side. Instead of the label being on the bottom, the bar code label is on the cap, and the name is on the lid. Weird, right? I included some bottle pics to show you.

I like this color a lot, and I wish it wore better on me. Maybe next time with a different top coat I'll have more success. Here's hoping!
Thanks! I actually used to dislike lavender/lilac...how wrong was I?! :) I would assume that the new bottle will just be used for the Walmart Essies, but that's just a guess.
ReplyDeleteI know that - I'm just cheap and don't want to buy different brands of nail treatments for all the different polish brands I own. I think it may be that my Rush top coat is getting old, though, because I wore China Glaze today and it did the same thing.
ReplyDeleteI love these pale lavender (or I guess lilac haha) shades! I really like the idea of essie's being available more main stream-ish, especially since they have been putting on some nice colors lately. But I have to say, not a fan of the bottle! Do you know if only the walmart ones will have the printed label or if its all essie?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that would work better, but I don't like the idea of having to buy different top coats and base coats for each brand of nail polish I own just to make them work like they should. I haven't had problems with my other polishes (not even my other Essies), either.
ReplyDeletewell , with Essie nail treatments you are guaranteed compatibility with Essie colors, and will not have any problems.....
ReplyDeleteUse ESSIE top coats and/or any ESSIE nail treatments if you do not want any chipping....

I think it's weird that Essie's at Walmart, too. I'm sure it's a good
ReplyDeletebusiness strategy, but with OPI being bought out, I wonder if their
exclusivity will decrease as well. And I'm still not sure if I like the
bottles either...but I do like the color, so that's the most important part!
:)
Yep! The displays weren't supposed to be out until January, but apparently
ReplyDeletemine wasn't the only one they've showed up at...I hope you find them!
I have this one and I love it! It's such a shame that it chipped on you so quickly though :(
ReplyDeleteI think its weird that Essie is sold at Wal-mart now! And those bottles... hmm not sure if I like them just yet...
Essie at Walmart? Good thing I was already planning to go to Walmart tomorrow! I like the new bottles.
ReplyDeleteThis is very pretty on you. I hope to find some Essie polishes at my Walmart as well.

ReplyDeleteThanks, and I hope you find them, too!
