Fashionista Nails in Fortune

Fortune is the second set of Fashionista Nails that Esther sent me to try. Rather than using a silver polish as a base for the decals, as I did last time, I decided to use a holographic polish, like Lacquered Lizard did, so I used GOSH Holographic. The results? Absolutely wonderful. I only took pictures of one hand this time, since the designs on each hand were similar enough that you'd have to inspect them closely to tell the difference.

*sigh* I am in love. Remember how I went crazy over the first set? Well, I like these even better. Yes, it's possible. I think this pattern goes particularly well over a holographic polish, though I'm sure it would look fantastic over gold, silver, or bronze as well - I may have to try an accent nail over Orly Luxe with one of the extra strips I have left. This time, I did a wear test, and these suckers lasted for four days, which is longer than my polish usually lasts on its own, and much longer than GOSH Holographic lasted on its own the last time I wore it. I don't have a picture because I'm stupid and forgot to take one, but after four days, one nail peeled most of the way off, and that was it. In fact, I think they would've lasted longer, but I inspected the edge of the decal that lifted up, and I appear to have not covered the edge completely with top coat. I suspect that my hot showers made them lift off, but to stay on for four days is nonetheless very impressive! I told my mom that she might have to get me another set of the Fortune decals for my birthday. She said maybe. :)

Here's a new nail blog I discovered yesterday. They're almost to 100 followers - who wants to be the 100th? :)

Until next time!

Fashionista Nails in Nymph

I had heard of Fashionista Nails, which is a fairly new company, last month on Lacquered Lizard, and I thought they sounded really cool. Naturally, I was therefore very excited when Esther of Fashionista Nails contacted me to see if I'd like to review some of her products! I believe my response to her email was something like "YES YES YES YES YES PLEEEEASE." Except hopefully a bit more professional. ;) Anyway, Fashionista Nails are kind of similar to nail polish strips (Incoco, Sally Hansen, etc.) in that you can have an intricate design on your nails without all the work, but they're much easier to use and much more versatile. Instead of nail polish, they're full-nail-sized water decals. This means that you can adjust them on the nail before covering them with top coat, which makes them much, much easier to apply. It also means that you can layer them over a variety of polishes, though you'll want to use a fairly light color. You can look on the Fashionista Nails website for a tutorial on applying the decals, though I think it would be pretty easy even without the tutorial. But here's what you really want to see - the pictures:

Aren't they gorgeous? The instructions recommend a silver base (Sally Hansen Celeb City), so that's what I used, but I'm planning on using GOSH Holographic as a base for my other set, Fortune. Lacquered Lizard used Nfu Oh #61 as a base for one finger in this post, and I think it looks absolutely amazing! I'm absolutely loving these, and other people are too - I've gotten a ton of compliments on my nails in the past two days! I want to see how long these will wear, but I think I want to try that with the second set, because my application wasn't quite perfect with these - you can see that it looks like I have tipwear on some nails, but that's actually because I was too aggressive with filing the ends off the decals. I'll try and do some swatching this weekend so I'll have something to keep you all entertained while I wear Fortune.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the price on these. They're $10, which is comparable to Sally Hansen and other nail polish strips. I feel like this is worth mentioning because I am not willing to pay $10 for the SH strips - I feel like most of the designs are something I can replicate fairly well, some of the designs are grainy, and they're a bit tricky to apply. I don't want to pay $10 for that. Fashionista Nails, on the other hand, I would be willing to pay $10 for, because they're much easier to apply, the designs (at least this one and the ones featured on Lacquered Lizard) are crisp on the nail, and I could not replicate the designs with nail art. So anyway, that's my two cents. Also, I wasn't going to list some of the ones I'm hoping to buy when I have some spending money (someday, hopefully :/), but then I realized that would be a very long list, so I'll spare you. Anyway, that's all for today! My vocal solo and ensemble perform at districts tomorrow, and I'm going to be there all day for two performances...so I may be painting my nails in my downtime. I'm sure I won't be doing homework. ;P Until next time!
