Sunday night, I decided to attempt my first water marble, which I'd been intending to do for quite a while. I used black and white (Wet n Wild Black Creme and White Creme) because I figured they'd be the easiest colors for a beginner like myself to marble with, and I marbled them over a base of one coat of White Creme. I used Vaseline to keep the polish from sticking to my fingers, and topped my nails with one coat of Seche Vite when I was done.
indoors, artificial light
I'm really sorry about my janky dry fingers and general nastiness in this picture - I took it this morning in a hurry because I was afraid my manicure wouldn't last the day without chipping, and I was right. While there are definitely some things for me to improve on, I don't think this was too bad for my first try, and I was happy to wear it out in public for two days. Have you tried water marbling?
I likee it!!
ReplyDeleteI've done water marbling 3 times.. I haven't since August I think! I was thinking about trying it again today but I decided to do something different instead.
This is kick ass. I love the simplicity of the color scheme with the complexity of the actual design.
ReplyDeleteI think it's very cool looking! I'd like to try water-marbling but my frustration level is too high to manage it. lol
ReplyDeleteIt turned out great! I'm glad you decided to post it. I love the B & W combo! I wanna do another marble again soon maybe I'll tr it in B & W :)
ReplyDeletecan you explain how water marbling is done? it looks fantastic
ReplyDeleteI'm so nervous to water marble! The vaseling seems to work well. The last tutorial I saw they covered as much of their finger as they could with foil. that sounded too annoying so i never tried it lol I would try the vaseline though! next time you try, can you do a step by step picture tutorial? I need directions or I'm a mess lol
ReplyDeleteI love the combo of black and white in this, it looks really good! Maybe I have to try water marbling with b&w sometime. I've done water marble couple times, it's fun but takes some time. I would like to do it more often but usually I don't have the time or energy..
ReplyDeleteI like that combo. :)
ReplyDeleteI always use the scotch tape method. Seems easiest for me.
Call me crazy but it reminds me of Klimt "Sang de poisson". So of course, I can only love your marble. It looks different of all those I've seen but I say this in the most positive way: it's very unique, vibrant and beautiful. I hope you do more and show them!
ReplyDelete(I've never succeeded a water marble - I seem to be a bit dumb. I should try again)
I've always been to nervous to try water marbling. haha I just know I'll mess it up horribly. Which I suppose doesn't matter, I can always try again. Maybe I'll give it a go this weekend.
ReplyDeleteYours looks lovely by the way. x
LOVE this! What a great first attempt! Much tidier than my first attempt. I am going to try to film my next watermarble...eek!
ReplyDeleteWell, if you do it again, I'm sure I'll enjoy reading your post about it!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! The complexity of the design is mostly due to my lack of experience, but I think it turned out pretty well. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I thought it would be a frustrating experience, but I actually found it to be very relaxing for some reason.
ReplyDeleteThanks! If you do marble in B&W, I can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteI am probably not the best to explain, but if there are a bunch of great tutorials on YouTube. I hope you find something that helps you!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I will definitely take pictures next time, but I'm not sure when that will be. :) There are some great tutorials on YouTube that helped me a lot, though; you might try looking there!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's definitely not something I'd want to do in a hurry...now THAT would be a disaster. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks - and I say to each her own! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! That is very high praise. :) And yes, you should try again, and I hope you do!
ReplyDeleteSure, give it a go! I thought I'd mess up horribly too, but it turned out all right.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Good luck filming - I have thought about doing a video tutorial ie two, but I'm pretty sure it would be a disaster. :)
ReplyDeleteI need to try this! It seems so time consuming though.
ReplyDeleteIt does take more time than a plain manicure, but in my opinion it's worth
ReplyDeleteit.
Ooh, this looks very arty! (My BF just said it was very interesting , haha)
ReplyDeleteHaha, thank you and thank him! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou finally got up the courage =] Love the black and white!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I did! Thank you!
