Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure

I was absolutely thrilled the other night when I found one lone bottle of Hidden Treasure in a Complete Salon Manicure display. Naturally, I went mad layering it over various colors, and I ended up doing fifteen different combinations.

First, I went for the neutrals. From thumb to pinkie, this picture shows Hidden Treasure on its own (excuse my stained nails...I didn't use base coat the other day and I am kicking myself for it), then over L.A. Colors Antique Rose, A Perfect 10 Talk Dirty, an unnamed Charlotte Russe polish, and Sally Girl white. For some reason I couldn't capture the effect of Hidden Treasure at all on those last two fingers...the flakies are subtle in real life, but you CAN see them. I promise. My favorite combo from these four is probably Hidden Treasure + Talk Dirty, though I also loved it over Antique Rose.

From left to right, this is Hidden Treasure over OPI Red My Fortune Cookie, an orange franken of mine, Nina Ultra Pro Like Butta, and Sally Hansen Lightening. My favorite of these is absolutely positively Red My Fortune Cookie. It's my favorite red anyway, but with Hidden Treasure on top it reminds me of one of those huge dragons in a parade...you know what I'm talking about? Hidden Treasure is also pretty subtle on the yellows, though again, not as subtle as in my pictures. And Lightening is NOT that green in real life - I think it looks icky in that picture.

From left to right, this is Zoya Ivanka, China Glaze Kiwi Cool-ada, Zoya Roxy, and Sally Hansen DVD. I really, really love all of these combinations, but if I had to pick a favorite it would probably be Hidden Treasure + Roxy.

Left to right: OPI My Private Jet (new version), Orly Prince Charming, and China Glaze For Audrey. Sorry for the dent in For Audrey...I happened to run into a piece of paper just before I took the picture. Oops. I also loved all of these, but my favorite is My Private Jet - the bronze and copper colors in Hidden Treasure complement the bronze flash in My Private Jet very nicely.

I know a lot of people don't like Sally Hansen Insta-Dri brushes. If you're one of those people, you probably won't or don't like the Complete Salon Manicure brushes either, because as far as I can tell they are exactly the same. However, I'm quite fond of those brushes, so I had no trouble with the brush in Hidden Treasure. It applied very nicely, and removed smoothly as well. My only problem with removal is that I ended up with bits and pieces of glitter on my fingers, which you can see in my pictures above if you look closely enough. It wasn't nearly as bad as most regular glitters, though, for which I was grateful.

I really wish I could've gotten another bottle of this beauty...I will still be watching for it, and maybe if I find another one or two or three I'll do a giveaway! If you'd like to see Hidden Treasure over a particular color, let me know in the comments - you can look at the list of polishes I own here on Google Docs.

  1. I love hidden treasure !!!! I'm happy that u found it ;) I think the wide brush works for hidden treasure but not for the creamy polishes...

  2. I am so envious of anyone who has this polish! Seriously, every time I go into a store that potentially carries nail polish I look for this! If you find another one please, let's do a swap! We can wait till September! I would love to try a paint and peel one! We will arrange something then!

  3. Tasha- I like it for the regular polishes, too, but I do like it better for Hidden Treasure.

Smita- I will definitely let you know if I find another one! I don't know if I'd be able to get another Paint & Peel, though, because the only place I know I can get it is three hours away.

  4. Boy I can't believe there are so many choices...I kind of go nutty when I look at all of them the same time....LOL

I like the OPI my private jet and Zoya Roxy. I hope I got the names right. LOL

    Nice job Zara. :)

  5. What a great compilation! Have you tried it over a royal or navy blue, or a purple creme? It's STUNNING that way too.
I just read that a girl paid $22 for this on the bay of evil. I cringed - HT is really cool, but you can get a Nfu Oh flakie for almost half that, and Nubar has a version too for under $10! Not that I'm complaining I have this, because I've been slapping it on everything that will stand still. I actually am getting used to this brush, it took me forever though. It's still hard to do a creme with it!
PS and I'm finally following you. Another forehead slapping moment.

  7. Okay. That's it. You are an expert at all things nail polish! This is legitimately amazing.

I think my favorite nail out of all of them is the OPI Private Jet as well. The Hidden Treasure really really does complement it. What a beautiful bronze!

  8. Inga- Those are my favorites, too! And you did get the names right. :)

Nicole- I haven't tried it over royal blue or a purple creme yet, but I probably will soon! I can't imagine paying $22 for this...I really love it, but if I hadn't been able to find it I was going to buy Nubar 2010. From pictures I've seen, they're really not that different - except I'd have to pay shipping for the Nubar. :) Thanks for following!

    Miri- I agree! I love layering. :)

Zabrinah- Haha, thanks! I love My Private Jet. I know everyone in the nail blogosphere lusts after the old, more holo-y version, but I love the one I have!

  10. I can't wait to find Hidden Treasure! It looks great over these polishes; I especially like it over the neutrals, actually, because it gives a kind of unexpected fun flakey shimmer once you see it up close! Thank you for swatching this...although I just want HT more, now!

  11. Martje- I know, and thanks! :)

Aurora's Nails- I really like it over neutrals, too, and I'm glad you liked this post! I'm sorry I've increased your lemming, though...here's to Hidden Treasure for everyone!
