Fashionista Nails in Nymph

I had heard of Fashionista Nails, which is a fairly new company, last month on Lacquered Lizard, and I thought they sounded really cool. Naturally, I was therefore very excited when Esther of Fashionista Nails contacted me to see if I'd like to review some of her products! I believe my response to her email was something like "YES YES YES YES YES PLEEEEASE." Except hopefully a bit more professional. ;) Anyway, Fashionista Nails are kind of similar to nail polish strips (Incoco, Sally Hansen, etc.) in that you can have an intricate design on your nails without all the work, but they're much easier to use and much more versatile. Instead of nail polish, they're full-nail-sized water decals. This means that you can adjust them on the nail before covering them with top coat, which makes them much, much easier to apply. It also means that you can layer them over a variety of polishes, though you'll want to use a fairly light color. You can look on the Fashionista Nails website for a tutorial on applying the decals, though I think it would be pretty easy even without the tutorial. But here's what you really want to see - the pictures:

Aren't they gorgeous? The instructions recommend a silver base (Sally Hansen Celeb City), so that's what I used, but I'm planning on using GOSH Holographic as a base for my other set, Fortune. Lacquered Lizard used Nfu Oh #61 as a base for one finger in this post, and I think it looks absolutely amazing! I'm absolutely loving these, and other people are too - I've gotten a ton of compliments on my nails in the past two days! I want to see how long these will wear, but I think I want to try that with the second set, because my application wasn't quite perfect with these - you can see that it looks like I have tipwear on some nails, but that's actually because I was too aggressive with filing the ends off the decals. I'll try and do some swatching this weekend so I'll have something to keep you all entertained while I wear Fortune.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the price on these. They're $10, which is comparable to Sally Hansen and other nail polish strips. I feel like this is worth mentioning because I am not willing to pay $10 for the SH strips - I feel like most of the designs are something I can replicate fairly well, some of the designs are grainy, and they're a bit tricky to apply. I don't want to pay $10 for that. Fashionista Nails, on the other hand, I would be willing to pay $10 for, because they're much easier to apply, the designs (at least this one and the ones featured on Lacquered Lizard) are crisp on the nail, and I could not replicate the designs with nail art. So anyway, that's my two cents. Also, I wasn't going to list some of the ones I'm hoping to buy when I have some spending money (someday, hopefully :/), but then I realized that would be a very long list, so I'll spare you. Anyway, that's all for today! My vocal solo and ensemble perform at districts tomorrow, and I'm going to be there all day for two performances...so I may be painting my nails in my downtime. I'm sure I won't be doing homework. ;P Until next time!

  5. So glad you love 'em as much as I do! I had the same issue first go round with filing too soon. Let 'em harden a bit then file. Works like a charm. :) I love this design! Thanks for the blog mentions too! :)
