Yellow nail polish is notorious for being streaky and difficult to apply, and Like Butta was no different. I only used three coats here, but it was still slightly streaky and I definitely would've applied a fourth coat if I were wearing it as a full mani.
indoors, artificial light
outdoors, shade
outdoors, sunlight
The picture taken outdoors in the sun is definitely the most accurate of the three, though Like Butta is slightly darker and very slightly orange-er in real life. Also, it doesn't clash with my skin tone nearly as much as it does in the pictures, and is probably the most skin-tone friendly yellow I own--though I must confess I only have three. I've got to do something about that! At any rate, Like Butta is a great color for summer or whatever time of the year you feel like wearing it.
I usually don't like yellow...I guess I got it from a fashion teacher...remember him saying something like "ooooh NO yellow neeever...you doooon't want to look like a beehive" ...
ReplyDeleteI think the yellow nail polish looks good though especially outdoors. :)
Thanks for doing all this testing. It really is very useful for the rest of us. :)
Haha! I think your fashion teacher must have had an overwhelmingly bad experience with yellow. :D And you're certainly welcome - I paint my nails like crazy anyway, so I'm glad it benefits other people in some way! :) Thanks for reading and commenting!
ReplyDeleteNice yellow! Do you know if this is in core display or special collection?
ReplyDeleteNo new nail polish post :( "lol"
ReplyDeleteI was showing my sister your site this morning. She LOVES nailpolish too...she's a little upset about her fingernails not looking their best at the moment because of house renovation. "lol"
Hope you're having a great day!
xoxo
KarenD- I'm pretty sure it's in their core display - I found it in the rack with all the other core colors at Sally Beauty Supply.
ReplyDeleteThe Original Swedish Blonde- Haha, there will be one today! :) And I sympathize with your sister; one of the main reasons I hate washing dishes without a dishwasher is because it ruins my nails and cuticles. :)
